Celebrate Christmas!
Since long before I was born in 1952, the world has celebrated Christmas on December 25.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion recently about whether that’s the right date. I doubt it is. It was an obscure event to most people when it happened. It was a long time ago and even calendars have changed over the ages.
Frankly, I don’t think it matters. Although, it may have historical and theological implications. I also don’t care.
I celebrate the birth of my Savior, not the date.
It seems fitting we should celebrate His birth.
Jesus didn’t choose to come as a warrior, or conquering hero. He chose to come as a helpless baby. He chose to learn who we were and how we lived. He chose to live in the human experience. He chose to live as perfection in our imperfect world. The only man to do it.
He took on a role where He was totally as dependent as your own newborn. Imagine that for a moment. Absolutely helpless. What a sacrifice He made.
Moreover, He chose to take on the role while knowing the ugly brutal death that awaited Him in the end as He paid the price for our salvation from sin, sickness, and mental torment.
We can’t begin to understand the cost of the gift that was given. We can only say “thank you” and accept the gift.
As the sun rises on a new Christmas Morning, I give thanks. Thanks to the Father who was willing to give his Son. Thanks to the Son who was willing to come. And thanks to the Holy Spirit who lives in me.
Merry Christmas 2021!
In His Love,
Wayne
